Each gold band starts as stainless steel and is finished in 18k gold PVD, a coating bonded to the surface that is harder and longer-lasting than traditional gold plating. The result has the warmth of gold jewelry with the strength of steel, made for everyday wear.

Are gold Apple Watch bands real gold?

Will a gold band fade?

PVD bonds the finish to the steel, making it far more durable than traditional plating, so the color holds through everyday wear. Like any plated finish, it can soften gradually where it rubs most, so keep it away from perfume, chlorine and harsh cleaners.
